GMS PTA News & Daily Announcements - Monday November 26, 2018

Congratulations to our 33 delegates who competed at the GWCIA Conference at GW University on Saturday. The delegates were prepared and performed very well solving the world’s problems. The conference was attended by 530 middle school students from Maryland, Virginia, DC and Pennsylvania. Special congratulations to Owen F. for an Honorable Mention Certificate and Dalu D. and Nathan B. for receiving Verbal Commendations for their outstanding work. This was the first time GMS has won any recognition.

GMS Wellness Initiative

Thanks to Ms. Larcamp for leading our GMS wellness initiative with our first GMS Viking Warrior Turkey Trot. Congratulations to our student runners from each grade level:

8th grade: 1st place-Ian, 2nd place-Andrew

7th grade: 1st place-Wyatt, 2nd place-Nico

6th grade: 1st place-Brett, 2nd place-Jackson

Staff winners: Ms. Ursu, Mr. Meier, Ms. Terra

Thanks to Ms. Lanham’s cooking classes for making pies to give our students and staff for the Thanksgiving holiday.

GMS Boys and Girls Basketball Tryouts 7th and 8th grade students

Tryouts for the basketball teams are on Tuesday, December 4th.

All medical forms need to be turned in by December 4th prior to trying out.

GMS Swimming Classes

The first swimming unit of the school year begins on Monday, November 26th through the physical education classes. Participating students should have suitable swimming attire, a towel and flip flops or water shoes to wear on the pool deck. Permission forms were sent home last week. Students must have a signed permission form to enter the water! Please contact Katie Becker and Erin Evans with any questions.
