GMS Parent Conferences
Monday, November 12 from 1:00-7:00 pm. No appointment is necessary. Feel free to visit during a time that works for you and your family! Conferences will be limited to 10 minutes per teacher.
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND? TEACHERS WILL BE ABLE TO MEET WITH YOU AND DISCUSS QUESTIONS LIKE:
What subjects does my child enjoy most? How can we build upon those strengths?
Does my child regularly complete assigned homework?
What after-school programs are available for my child?
What do you see as his or her strengths? How could he or she improve?
What are the best ways to keep up to date with my child’s progress?

Viking Warrior Turkey Trot
GMS is hosting its first Vikings Warrior Turkey Trot. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 13th. The different grade levels will be racing at different times. There will be a winner at each grade level who will receive a turkey! Shirts are on sale for $10.00. If you want a T-shirt, please return the order form to Ms. Larcamp no later than Nov. 7th! The schedule for that day as well as the order form can be found on the GMS website.
SGA Pennies for Patients
The SGA is conducting a penny drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. This organization collects money to further research efforts for people with blood cancers. The SGA will be collecting coins and online donations. Our school donation site is also listed on the GMS website for more information.
Signs of Suicide
The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has provided a variety of initiatives to address the many topics of mental health. One of the initiatives include a proactive approach to the issues and concerns of suicide. GMS will be presenting lessons during the month of November to all students using the Signs of Suicide Prevention Program adopted by the county. A letter was sent home with your child pertaining this information. Please feel free to contact our counseling office if you have any questions.
School-Based Flu Clinics
There are injectable flu vaccines that will be offered at school-based clinics for students aged 3 to 18 years old. Tuesday, November 13, 2018-1:30-4:30 PM at Kennedy High School, Northwest High School, Rockville High School. Make an appointment using this link: https://apps.montgomerycountymd.gov/FluVaccine/
Free Dentist
Gaithersburg Middle School Linkages to Learning program is offering a dental visit through Smile Maryland for our students on Friday, November 9th, 2018. This event is during school hours. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact the Linkages office at 240-672-1480.
