GMS PTA News & Daily Announcements - Tuesday November 20, 2018

Today is report card distribution day. Students will report to homeroom at the end of the day to get their report card and other important documents.

Today we will show our gratitude for staff and students by announcing each period a Thanksgiving pie winner. These pies are homemade. Please listen at the end of each period to see if you are a pie winner.

No after school activities or buses today or Wednesday.

This is the last week to purchase your Model UN T-shirts and hoodies. Get your order form and payment to Mrs. Sanders in room 701 by Wednesday. All proceeds support Model UN scholarships.

Here are the 8th grade Character Counts! award winners for the 1st quarter. These students were nominated by their teachers as having shown one of the Character Counts! pillars during the 1st quarter. Great job! If your name is called, please come down to the media center during lunch today to get your picture taken, to accept your certificate and to receive your free dessert coupon.

The Viking Warrior Turkey Trot is rescheduled for Wednesday, November 21. There are still Turkey Trot shirts available to purchase! Please make sure you see Ms. Larcamp or Mr. Meier if you would like a shirt. If you already purchased a shirt, stop by room 809 to pick it up!

Attention Music department students. Your Yankee Candle catalog items and paper orders are available for pick up. Please make arrangements if you need a ride to transport items safely home. If you are having a parent come help pick up your order tomorrow, Wednesday, please remember it is the Turkey Trot and a half day. Any items not picked up today or tomorrow will be secured and available for pick up next Monday. Thank you for supporting our music department! Our online sales are STILL going on until January 9th.

Also reminder that there will be NO JAZZ BAND today. We will resume next week after Thanksgiving with two practices, Tuesday November 27th AND Thursday the 29th.

Signs of Suicide

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has provided a variety of initiatives to address the many topics of mental health.  One of the initiatives include a proactive approach to the issues and concerns of suicide.  GMS will be presenting lessons during the month of November to all students using the Signs of Suicide Prevention Program adopted by the county.  A letter was sent home with your child pertaining this information.  This letter is attached to this email.  Please feel free to contact our counseling office if you have any questions.
