Minority Scholars Organization
Minority Scholars is an organization to help increase the academic achievement of minority students at Gaithersburg Middle School as well as provide opportunities for leadership opportunities and SSL hours. An informational meeting will be held on Friday, January 18th during Viking Time 5. This meeting will take place in Mr. Padilla’s room, room 800. Come learn about this exciting opportunity.
Winter Coats
Students-If you need a winter coat, please stop by the main office or the counseling office. We have many coats to give students.

Weight Lifting and Conditioning
After school, Weight lifting and condition will start next week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
This is open for all grade levels. Please see Mr. Frawley for details.
Women’s Choir
Women’s choir is canceled until April due to the preparation for the upcoming choral festival. It will start again on April 2.
WIDA Testing for ESOL Students
WIDA testing will begin next Wednesday, January 16th – January 29th for all ESOL Level 1-5 students.
This test determines a student’s ESOL Level and determines if a student is ready to exit the ESOL Program.
It is very important that all students arrive to school on time. Students can earn prizes for arriving on time and ready for testing.
Students who are not in an ESOL class but are required to be assessed will be taking WIDA test January 31st through February 8

Grade 7 Field Trip to Finance Park-Edison Center for Junior Achievement Experience
Graham’s, Mr. Suggs, Ms. Smith, Ms. Terra’s, Mr. Schultze World Studies Classes will attend the field trip. (If there is a delayed opening or no school the trip will be rescheduled for another date)
If your child did not request a bag lunch from the GMS café, please provide your child with a bag lunch.
The students will leave GMS at 8:20 AM (Please be sure your child is on time to school.) Students will return to GMS at 2:30 PM.
