6th grade Outdoor Education Information
Outdoor Education for our 6th graders is quickly approaching.
The MCPS 6thGrade Outdoor Education program is an exciting three-day, two-night outdoor learning experience at the Smith Center. Students received their permission slips on 1/15/19 and Outdoor Education packet through their Science classes.
All paperwork and money/checks $80.00 should be returned to their Science teacher. If financial assistance is needed, please indicate this on the GMS paperwork. Checks should be made out to Gaithersburg Middle School.
There will be a parent information session regarding GMS Outdoor Education on Thursday, January 24th at 7:00 PM in the cafeteria.
GMS Staff will share: the dates, courses students will participate in, cabin organization, meals, evening activities.
In addition, parents who are interested in chaperoning at Outdoor Education during the day or overnightwill need to get fingerprinted. The fingerprinting service will be offered FREE to parents on Thursday, January 24th at 7:00 PM. Please bring a valid ID.
Student Attendance
Daily attendance is necessary for a student to be successful at school. In addition, patterns of regular attendance and on-time arrival established now will help students throughout their education and their employment years.
If a student’s absence or tardy is excused, they should bring a note from a parent or guardian excusing them. Failure to bring a note within three days will automatically be considered unexcused.
Student’s attendance and tardies are monitored by the school. Beginning Marking Period 3 on January 29, 2019, students will be receiving consequences after three tardies to school.
